Corvette Trim Tag

1963-1967 corvette trim tag, sometimes called cowl tag is a aluminum body identification plate that is riveted to the under dash crossbar brace next to the VIN number plate.

The trim tag has several numbers embossed into plate, body style either 437 for the coupe or 467 for the convertible, color code of paint, style/color of interior, and the number of the body as it began its assembly. The original 63-67 corvette midyear trim tag is a very important part of the judging process for NCRS.

Many cars had there trim tags changed in the 70′s and 80′s when the cars under went color changes at local body shops, back in the 1980′s  corvette judging didn’t put so much importance for being circa correct original tags . They were changed frequently. It has been estimated that for 1967 model year some  3500-4000 corvettes suffered this fate.
