Chevrolet Turbo hydramatic 400 transmission identification tag is an small aluminum plate which has been riveted to passenger side of main case of transmission, tags were originally silk screened with certain letters and numbers, the character refer to model year, what type of car, IE Chevelle, Impala, Camaro, the tag was stamped with model year, type of vehicle, the jullian day the trans was originally built at the factory as well as the sequence number of transmission and horsepower rating of motor that was in front of transmission.
