69-72 chevelle, nova, camaro, impala trim tag or sometime called cowl tags is an aluminum body identification plate that is located on the drivers side inside engine compartment firewall. The trim tag has a series of number embossed into plate . On the 69 camaro and chevelle cowl tag , the left top line shows year of car ,next to that is body style… example 12467 is camaro,8 cyl ,convertible…the letters next are the plant it was built at …example “NOR” …norwood,ohio, the 6 numbers that follow the ”NOR” is the body sequence number on the assembly line ,on the second line is interior trim code …example 711 is std black vinyl interior , numbers to the far right are paint codes ..example 72-72 ..hugger orange… it may also have a letter beside number depicting vinyl roof color or in the case of convertible the top color, 3rd row is month and week car was built ..example 03c ….. 03 meaning 3rd month being march and ”C” meaning 3rd week of march….a would be 1st week 2 would be 2nd week and so on, the final numbers to the right are on camaro ”X” codes …like x33 ..these are exterior/interior/engine body trim codes depicting z28, big block , rs ,ss base model etc. …on chevelle these numbers are assembly line order sequence numbers only.
