The Chevrolet built sheet was a document created by the factory as a blueprint for the components that would be going into the new car as it went down assembly line. It was be placed in the car as it traveled.
The line so workers could then reference it as to what components were going to be put into the car. These build sheets would include critical information such as; serial number, interior & exterior color, all the options car was built with, the tire size and type, dealership the car was being shipped to, type of engine/horsepower, transmission, and rear axle the car was made with, rear axle ratio, date car was built, types of parts used such as steering knuckles, exhaust components, wiring harnesses etc.
These build sheets would be left in the car in most cases behind door panels, behind rear seats, headliners….when restoring a car, owners would search for these papers because it would act like a birth certificate for the car and help validate the authenticity of there vehicle, build sheets were found in mostly Chevelles, Impala’s and Los Angeles Camaro’s, none have been ever found in Norwood Camaro’s or Novas.
